At 2700 feet, Deoprayag ("Divine confluence") is the meeting place for the Bhagirathi River (left) and the Alakananda River, the two major Himalayan tributaries of the Ganges. Above Deoprayag each of these rivers has their separate identities, below it there is only the Ganges. The most celebrated event at Deoprayag is the congregation of devotees, who come here to worship at Raghunath temple.
The bathing ghat at Deoprayag is built with multiple levels to accommodate different water levels during the monsoon.
